What Is a Proxy?

A proxy server (from the English proxy — “representative”, “substitute”) is an intermediate layer between your device (the client) and the internet resources you access. It receives your requests, sends them on your behalf, and then returns the response.
This way, your real IP address remains hidden, and websites “see” the IP of the proxy server.
In simple terms, it’s like putting on a mask before going online.

Why do you need proxies?

Proxy servers perform critical tasks for safe, scalable and stable online work.
Below are key reasons why proxies become an essential tool in 2025.

🔐 Anonymity and data protection

  • Hide your IP address. Sites do not see your real IP. This makes your online behaviour anonymous and protected from tracking, fingerprint analysis and unwanted links between accounts.
  • Work with multiple identities. Proxies allow you to isolate accounts from each other by distributing them across different IPs, browser sessions and devices.
  • Security on open networks. Using a proxy reduces the threat of traffic interception and tracking on public Wi‑Fi.

⚙️ Scalable work with accounts and traffic

If you operate dozens or hundreds of accounts (in arbitrage, e‑commerce, advertising, social networks, etc.), one IP = one account.
Using one IP for several accounts risks bans and deanonymisation.

With proxies you:

  • isolate each account,
  • provide a unique IP for each thread,
  • reduce the risk of bans and increase scale.

📊 Automation, parsing and testing

Proxies are the foundation for:

  • automatic data collection (SEO scraping, marketplace parsing, competitive analysis),
  • testing interfaces and APIs,
  • working with marketing tools (e.g. ad verification, price scraping).

Without proxies: how accounts get banned

GoogleAdsN-->Ban2[Ban – Failed]

❗ Everything works through the same IP. The platform (e.g. Google Ads) sees suspicious activity, links the accounts together — and bans them.
